Test Engineer to global company
Do you want to help shape the future of robotics and safety-critical systems? We are looking for a Test Engineer with a strong focus on functional safety and embedded systems. A global leader in advanced robotics is seeking an experienced Software Test Consultant to join their R&D team in Västerås. The team is working on the next generation of industrial and collaborative robots
In this role, you’ll be part of the software team focusing on functional safety. As a Software Test Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of software systems through rigorous testing processes. Your expertise in functional safety will be crucial in identifying potential risks and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
You will be responsible for planning and executing both manual and automated tests with a focus on functional safety. Together with the test lead, you will develop tailored test strategies, collaborate with development and cross-functional teams to design effective test cases, and ensure seamless integration of safety features. Your work will include identifying and reporting defects, performing regression testing, and analyzing risks associated with software functionalities. You will ensure compliance with relevant safety standards such as ISO 10218, document results thoroughly, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders. Additionally, you are expected to continuously improve testing methodologies and stay updated on best practices and advancements within software testing and functional safety.
All work is conducted on-site in Västerås.

Desired qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field. At least 3 years of experience in embedded software development, with a minimum of 1 year focused on safety-critical systems.
- Proficient in C++, Simulink and Matlab for real-time and embedded applications.
- Solid understanding of functional safety principles and practical experience implementing them in industrial robotics. Hands-on experience with standards like ISO 13849, IEC 61508, ISO 10218, and the Machinery Directive.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent skills in documentation and cross-functional communication.
